Probably, the best known book in this series is Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

Alexander is an average boy who lives with his parents and two older brothers who tease him a lot.  Through this series of picture books, Alexander talks about his life and the things he goes through in a humorous way.  Some of the stories kind of teach lessons, but mostly, the books are really more pictures of everyday life, the little daily problems people have, and getting through difficulties as we go about our lives.  Many people can identify with the things Alexander goes through because they are the type of things that most people have experienced at some point.
