In this series of British picture books, the characters of Misterland use their distinctive personality traits to teach moral lessons, but in a nonsense way. The series is very humorous, and even the morals in the story are more funny nonsense than practical. Some books have more anti-morals than morals. Not all of the characters who learn a lesson maintain good behavior afterward, either. Some of them revert to whatever they were doing before. Some of the morals are taught by fantastical characters, like wizards and goblins.
All of the Mr. Men and Little Miss characters are named after their most obvious personality trait, and they have their own unique shape and bright colors. (As I recall from when I was a kid, the different appearances of the characters was one of the attractions of these books. I think I had a collection of stickers of different characters.) Every character has a book of their own, and sometimes, characters make appearances in each other’s books.

The first books in the series were the Mr. Men books, which had male characters, but then, the author created the accompanying Little Miss series with female characters.
The series was originally created by Roger Hargreaves and continued by his son, Adam Hargreaves. Some of the books in the series have alternate titles for different printings or international versions. The series has been published in several different languages.
